Magnificent Obsession.

By miaweelow

I just realised i’ve been shooting lots of flares and skies and the “same” things. But to a person who doesnt really shoot lots of nature and stuff its a great personal change for me AND i shoot when i taking long walks so every time i capture a piece of sky that i’ve been blanketed by and that holds special meaning somehow.

Each piece of sky is different and i know the emotion that accompanied me when i took that specific walk under that specific sky. Sometimes i felt cold, sometimes tired. Sometimes i felt firm relief and other times it was deep loneliness. But mostly i skipped instead of walking. =) haha.

Its a nice feeling to be under beautiful and open skies. Its a kinda freedom i love very much.

I will indulge and enjoy the moment for now =).

Ahh, the feeling of the weekend is great. I really look forward to Sundays because i can go to church, and Saturdays are great times to be spent relaxing at home and chilling with friends, i find that thats the culture prevalently here. Gonna be meeting Veron for dinner. At least she has an Asian friend now hahaha.

Experimented with a bit of tilting. I love shooting things straight on, but somehow tilting the Ricoh with the 28mm is very fun. so here goes!

still on the way

still on the way

Its quite a bit of walk to sch, say 15-20mins depending on what kinda shoes i am wearing? haha. But i do enjoy walking down the same stretches of roads and noting what new bird shit appears on the ground and what moss grew up overnight. BUT, i also like to shoot absolutely the same scenery from new perspectives with the Ricoh, i find that extremely refreshing!

I was just telling Ben that shooting with a lomo can really change the way you see things and sometimes its because you just shoot from the weirdest angles and the most inappropriate times haha. I love the philosophy of lomography. It blows me away. Some might think its an excuse for bad photography because of its random nature, but i think unpredictability is very charming, and chaos is an artform in itself.

not only flares, but tilts now! haha

somehow this calms me down

I thought today’s clouds were funny. They seem fake and in rank. Maybe they’re holding an election in heaven? Haha. Choosing the new transport minister or something.

Went to Boxhill again to revel in Asian goodness. Inspired by Deb’s stirfry, i went and bought some groceries to do my own stirfry! Carrying a bag of “cong” back home on a bus isn’t very fun. I hate it that “congs” are so long that it sticks out of the pathetic plastic bags that they have here.

And my nightmare happened again when i took bus 733 back. Omg. ALL the freakin call buttons on the bus spoil, so i stopped at Safeway instead of my stop AGAIN and had to walk back the long way AGAIN. I honestly was pissed. I think it was the first time i was so pissed since i got here. This walking shit gotta stop and i vowed silently that i would be a driver in around 35 weeks. Gah.

BUT as always, i tried to enjoy myself, so i acted all touristy and started to snap snap snap.

the walk home

the walk home. i love the houses here and the stark trees in the suburbs.

The Suburbs are very different from the city and i enjoy it more than being in a concrete jungle. Just that the public transport around the suburbs can be pretty unpredictable and buses can be off schedule sometimes. So lets say i wish to go to the City and i expect to take a bus at 3.30pm to the Boxhill interchange so i can catch a city bus at 3.52pm.

If the bus at my place is late, thats it because maybe there wont be a bus at 4pm onwards, starting only at 5 plus. So what shall i do? haha. This is definitely a far cry from the convenience of Mother Land. Anyway, there’s always a way out la, but u gotta be creative. Theres the train, tram and bus, so its up to you to choose the best way to town at the given departure time from your abode.

Alright. So i was walking home from Boxhill when i saw this small nook with some graffiti. I was trying to get a shot of it and some Aussie teenager walked by and was trying to get a glimpse of what i shot. Sometimes i hate to look like some swakoo Asian taking photos of inanimate stuff, but sometimes i enjoy playing the fool. haha.

here was what interested me.

here was what interested me.

So in the end i did get my stir fry done but as usual i don’t shoot well at home so i will leave that to another day. haha. Alright, i hope the post doesn’t have an overload of clouds and flares and inane objects haha. But who cares, as of now, the sky and the sun’s my muse.

Just finished some reading on Globalisation and am wondering if i should begin on the next. I think i will let my brain chill. Its pretty taxing to study again after 3 years of mental inactivity. haha. I thank God for bible studies, its there that my brain still maintains its dexterity.

Alright, its late, nearly 3am here. Gonna sleep.

Nights.

do you own a lomo camera? if not, you should consider investing in one. if you’re into macro shots (i saw the drop of water hanging off the branch, thot it’d be cool if taken using a lomo), you could try the fisheye for outstanding effects. go click.and.shoot!

i have an LCA, but its out of function. if wanna repair must send to HK, eeeks.

LCA hard to do macro man, i used it to shoot when we went out to parkway area remember?
Still favor the LCA over the fisheye haha. Too much distortion all the time i cannot take it =P
